A faucet that develops a persistent drip is usually caused by damaged or worn parts that you can easily replace yourself. Here’s a simple step-by-step guide.

  1. Turn off the water supply to the faucet.
  2. Use a flathead screwdriver to gently pry off any decorative handle knobs.
  3. Remove the handle screws and handles.
  4. Use a wrench to loosen the packing nut and remove the stem, o-ring and washer situated in the faucet’s valve seat. Check each of these parts for damage or wear.
  5. Clear buildup and debris from the valve seat.
  6. Reassemble the faucet, swapping any faulty parts with new, identical replacements.

If you find that the faucet still drips or leaks, contact a licensed plumber to diagnose the underlying issue.
